Anyone who makes it out alive & even HALF sane is a true survivor! You are so right, as much as they love us, spouses who weren't raised a witness have no clue- even when we TELL them, they don't grasp it. This board has been a godsend. The family many of us lost to the organization. So, "TO US"

Isn't it funny, that hind site is 20/20. You always think of what you should have done. For me- I was disfellowshipped once- played the sweet little- listen & hang on every word- trying to do what was right- got reinstated, then stopped going to meetings. So, I wonder when & if they will talk to me- I go to church, buy lottery tickets, celebrate holidays, etc- I am afraid I would go out with a bang if they tried to mess with me! I am SOO bitter- that I think I would show up with a lawyer, or with a cigarette & a bottle of beer. (I don't drink or smoke) And, they always have you abide by their rules, dress up to get dissed, show up at their time, use their bible- what a crock! I love the postings in here about ways to show up at a judicial committe- they are hilarious! :-) P.S. YES YES YES YES YES YES YES THEY RUIN LIVES! YOU ARE EITHER IN OR OUT- NO "I GUESS THIS ISN'T WHAT I BELIEVE, BUT LETS STILL BE FRIENDS." WHAT A CROCK

Male and Female Friends
by StinkyPantz inmy husband and i have had sort of a disagreement of sorts.
he says that men cannot be friends with women.
he says that any man that appears to want to be friends with a woman really just wants to get in her pants, and if they end up friends it's purely by accident.

Female- married here :-) I think it is easier for a woman to be friends with a man- not in a sexual way- than it is for a man. Sure, you have your rare guy that just wants to be friends, but for the most part- when you become deep- they want to get deep- lol- sorry :-) I guess the rule of thumb- what would you want your mate to do? Would the women want their husbands having a best friend thats a woman- or vice versa? I like having opposite sex friends- keeps me in tune with hubby, and I like him keeping in tune with me- via female friends- as long as all pants stay zipped :-)

Hello again! Thanks for your replies :-) My husband & I put down that we wanted a newborn baby- white preferably. Now, it has been a year, so will consider just about any age & any race- depending on situation. Of all things- as weird as this is- we got a call from our facilitator in May- there was a witness lady that wanted to give her baby up! She wasn't too much of a witness- was swearing on the phone, did drugs, had an affair- etc- but we said "SURE"- went out to California- and she was wishy washy about whether she wanted to sign papers- so the state jumped in & took the baby away- for fear she wouldn't sign- they knew the baby wasn't safe with her. Funny, yet one more bad witness story to add to my list! I don't know why I put the post on here- just thought someone might know of someone in a bad situation that needed a good home for their baby, or someone who knew someone who had a good experience with a certain agency, etc. Locally here, in Iowa- there is Catholic charities- need to be Catholic- Lutheran social services- need to be Lutheran- so right now- I am nothing- so limits things. Anyway, thanks for the posts :-)

Straw that broke the Camels Back
by Perfection Seeker inso, whats the straw that broke the camels back in your life?
what was the final last straw that made you say thats it- no more?
i have so many-for 15 years i kept getting that last straw-and trying to ignore it- but i think the last straw was when my dad died- everyone kept (keeps) giving me the line of bs about never seeing him again unless i go to meetings.

JIM- that can't be the straw that broke the camels back, can it? I mean, in my experience, you're GONE already when you get the book, aren't you? I guess I was. I NEVER would have read it if I was "in". The WHOLE book really socked it to me about SOO many wrongs & misleadings. That book was awesome!

Time Capsule
by kenpodragon indo you ever notice how sometimes the brain acts like a time capsule.
how sometimes in the most oddest of events, you will suddenly dig up the weirdest memory.
i have this happen from time to time with the witness memories.

HI! I just found this website on June 23- and haven't done ANYTHING else since! I am spending 25 (lol) hours a day on this site! I can't leave. If I leave to shower or walk the dog, or do anything- I come right back up & on the computer! Not really complaining- this site is awesome, and was VERY timely & helpful. I think this site should be on the back of every Watchtower-lol. Keep up the good work everyone! This support system is awesome. Better than any I had in the "TRUTH" for all those years. How many hours does everyone else spend on here? Probably depends on your level- where you're at with leaving, etc. Just curious :-) Thanks to all who welcomed me & posted replies to my posts. Melissa

This is a tough one. The first time I went to church- last December- and saw a flag on the stage- I was way turned off. I have always been turned off flag salutes, etc- because of my witness upbringing. Now, I do understand the flag salute- since the 911 tragedy- more than ever- I do understand pledging your allegiance to the USA- instead of being a defector, etc. Who knows how we would have felt having NOT been raised a witness. Everyone else just takes the flag salute & patriotism for granted. I guess you'll have to see how you personally feel- For me- I enjoy the fireworks, getting together with family since we all have time off, etc. Never really thought much about the overall picture. Its OK to pick & choose your beliefs. You might not be 100% witness, or 100% catholic, or 100% any certain one religion. Just take what your own conscience tells you & go from there. Good luck! Melissa
